Rohit Shetty firing case: Main shooter arrested, Bishnoi gang link under probe

Rohit Shetty firing case update: A dramatic twist has emerged in the firing case outside filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s Juhu residence. Just days after gunshots were reportedly fired outside his Mumbai home, police have now arrested the alleged shooter, said to be linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang. The accused is set to be produced in court today (February 16).

The incident had sparked fear across Bollywood after a group associated with gangster Lawrence Bishnoi claimed responsibility. Since then, the Mumbai Crime Branch has worked closely with local police to piece together the chain of events. Earlier in the probe, five individuals were arrested and questioned. Their statements reportedly revealed key details about how the attack was executed.

Alleged Lawrence Bishnoi gang shooter arrested

According to investigators, the weapons used in the firing were supplied through a layered network. Police say that on the instructions of a man identified as Lonkar, an accused named Fasale handed over firearms to Swapnil Sakat. The latter allegedly passed those weapons to the now-arrested shooter, who carried out the firing outside the Golmaal filmmaker’s house.

Officials confirmed that the suspected shooter has finally been taken into custody. He will be presented before the court later today. During interrogation, Fasale admitted that he accepted money in exchange for supplying weapons. However, he claimed he did not know where the firearms originally came from.

In a separate development, police recently arrested another accused, Asaram, who allegedly supplied arms under the cover of running a garage. Investigators revealed that Asaram had been working as a mechanic in Pune’s Warje area for nearly a decade. Behind the façade, however, he allegedly supplied weapons for the Bishnoi gang over the past four years.

Crime Branch officials also disclosed that Asaram was heavily influenced by Shubham Lonkar, believed to be a close associate of Lawrence Bishnoi and the alleged mastermind in the Baba Siddique murder case. This connection has further deepened concerns about organised crime targeting high-profile personalities.
