Meanwhile, a video went viral on social media, in which Rohit Sharma and Wasim Akram were seen shaking hands and hugging. This scene was before the start of the match, when Rohit was returning out after placing the trophy on the field. Wasim Akram was also walking with him and at the same time this warm greeting took place between the two. After the video surfaced, various reactions were seen on social media, especially because the Indian team was following the no handshake policy on the field.

Former captain met the players before the match

Before the match, Rohit Sharma reached R Premadasa Stadium and met the players in the Indian dugout and encouraged them. It is noteworthy that this is the first edition of T20 World Cup in which Rohit is not participating as a player. He had participated in all the T20 World Cup editions played before this. In the year 2024, under his captaincy, India also won the T20 World Cup title.
