‘Maoism will be completely eliminated from the country by March 31, 2026…’ Home Minister Amit Shah said on the 79th foundation day of Delhi Police.

New Delhi : Delhi Police celebrated its 79th Raising Day on Monday, in which Union Home Minister Amit Shah attended as the Chief Guest and reviewed a ceremonial parade. On this occasion, Home Minister Amit Shah said that Delhi Police has always performed its duties with utmost dedication and professionalism… The newly created Delhi Police Special Cell Integrated Headquarters was e-inaugurated today. Built at a cost of approximately Rs 375 crore, the Special Cell Integrated Headquarters will become the most modern anti-narcotics and anti-terrorism center in the country… It will emerge as an ideal Special Cell Headquarters for police departments across the country…”

Home Minister Amit Shah said, “Before 2014, there were three-four issues which were challenging the internal security of the country for the last four decades… After the removal of Article 370, there has been a decline of more than 80% in the cases of violence in Jammu-Kashmir, North-East and Naxalism-affected states, and the day is not far when these three areas will be completely free from violence… By March 31, 2026, Maoism will be completely eliminated from the country. It will end.” He said, “…in the coming two years, when all three new criminal laws are fully implemented, the accused will be punished and it will not take more than 3 years from the registration of the FIR to the final decision of the Supreme Court…For the first time, terrorism has been defined in the criminal laws…”

Earlier, on the 79th Foundation Day, the best marching contingent of Delhi Police, SWAT team, dog squad, band team, motorcycle riders, PCR units and many other special teams together conducted the march past. Welcoming the chief guest, Delhi Police Commissioner Satish Golchha said the force is prepared to deal with any situation in the national capital. Addressing the people, the police chief said the priorities of the force include creating a “drug-free India”, eliminating cyber terrorism and dismantling organized crime networks. He said nine gangsters were killed in encounters in 2025 and the Special Cell, with the help of central agencies, is tracking 32 gangsters who have fled abroad. Senior officers and employees were present on this occasion.
