Deposited so many crores… Rajpal Yadav will come out of Tihar after 8 days, gets bail from Delhi HC

Famous Bollywood comedian Rajpal Yadav has got a big relief from Delhi High Court. Rajpal Yadav, who is lodged in Tihar jail in an old check bounce case, has got interim bail. On the condition of the court, he deposited a demand draft of Rs 1.5 crore, after which he will soon be out of jail. This matter is related to a loan of about Rs 9 crore.

Court set strict conditions

Hearing was held in Delhi High Court on 16 February 2026. Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer told the court that the actor is ready to deposit Rs 1.5 crore without any conditions. Justice Swarn Kanta Sharma clearly said that the amount should be deposited through demand draft (DD) only. The court mentioned the DDs of Rs 25 lakh and Rs 75 lakh already deposited.

The court told the lawyer- "If a demand draft of Rs 1.5 crore is deposited by 3 pm today, we will release him. Otherwise the hearing will be held again tomorrow morning." Rajpal Yadav deposited this amount on time in the name of Murali Projects Private Limited, which secured his release.

This case was originally worth Rs 5 crore, but due to interest and other reasons it has now reached Rs 11 crore. Rajpal Yadav’s lawyer had earlier told that till now Rs 2.5 crore has been deposited in the case. This includes around Rs 1 crore in the registry. Now by depositing another Rs 1.5 crore, the total amount paid has increased further.

Why did Rajpal apply for bail?

Rajpal Yadav was in Tihar jail since 5 February 2026. Due to disobedience of the old orders of the court, he had to surrender. He had sought interim bail to attend his niece’s wedding (February 19). Many stars from Bollywood supported him.

Now, after getting interim bail, Rajpal Yadav will be able to spend time with the family. The main hearing of the case will continue, but for now he has got relief. This decision has brought a wave of happiness in Bollywood.
