So far three teams have qualified for Super-8, the clash between India and South Africa is confirmed.
T20 World Cup 2026: South Africa has qualified for the Super-8 stage in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The Proteas team became the third qualifying team after Afghanistan’s victory over UAE on Monday. Earlier, West Indies and India had made it to the next round by winning their group matches. Let us tell you, South Africa has progressed by being on top from Group D.
Three teams confirmed their place
So far, three teams have reached the Super-8 – India (from Group C), West Indies (from Group A) and South Africa (from Group D). There are a total of 20 teams in the tournament, out of which 8 will go to the Super-8. Nepal, Oman and Namibia are out after losing three matches. The remaining teams are still fighting. South Africa won all three of its group matches and qualified with 6 points. Their next group match is against UAE.
South Africa in great form
South Africa was the runner-up team of the last T20 World Cup and is looking in tremendous form this time too. In the first match they defeated Canada by 57 runs. In the second match against Afghanistan, there was a tie in the super over, but South Africa won the second super over.
Defeated New Zealand by 7 wickets in the third match. New Zealand made 175 after losing 7 wickets, but the Proteas chased the target with 3 wickets in 17.1 overs. Both the team’s batting and bowling look strong.
First meeting with India
South Africa’s first clash will be with India in the Super-8. This match will be played on 22 February at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad at 7 pm. India is also in great form by winning all three group matches. The team entered the Super-8 after defeating Pakistan by 61 runs on Sunday.
The team captained by Suryakumar Yadav is looking strong on home ground. In the Super-8, India is in Group 1 as the top seed (X1), while South Africa is X4. This match between the two teams will be exciting. India’s Super-8 schedule is full of strong opponents, but the team will get home advantage.
