Big relief to Rajpal Yadav in check bounce case, got bail after depositing DD of Rs 1.5 crore
Tezzbuzz Desk – Bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav is once again in the headlines in a 16-year-old check bounce case. On 5 February 2026, he had to surrender in Tihar Jail, Delhi, after which he filed an interim bail petition in the Delhi High Court. Now he has got a big relief in this matter.
Got bail after depositing Rs 1.5 crore
During the hearing, Delhi High Court had put a condition of depositing a demand draft of Rs 1.5 crore before granting interim bail to Rajpal Yadav. The court had clarified that if the amount is deposited by 3 pm then bail will be granted, otherwise the next hearing will be on February 17.
The demand draft was submitted by the actor within the stipulated time, after which the court accepted his bail petition. The next hearing of the case has now been fixed for March 18.
It is being told that Rajpal Yadav had filed this petition to attend his niece’s wedding (February 19).
Was reprimanded in the last hearing
During the hearing held on February 12, the court had strongly reprimanded the actor’s lawyer. The court had said that Rajpal Yadav has already been given 25-30 chances, but he did not pay.
Rajpal had also said that the sentence should be canceled and the case should be settled, which was rejected by the court. The court also said that when it has been accepted that the loan has been taken, then on what basis is relief being sought.
According to the lawyer, an amount of more than Rs 3 crore has already been paid and about Rs 2.10 crore is still to be deposited.
The matter is 16 years old
This case is of the year 2010, when Rajpal Yadav, as a director and producer, had taken a loan of about Rs 5 crore for the film ‘Ata Pata Lapata’. He had promised to share in the profits.
When the production company Murali Projects Private Limited asked for the amount back and the payment was not made, the matter reached the court. In this case, action was taken against both Rajpal Yadav and his wife. It is noteworthy that the actor has already gone to jail twice in this connection.
