PM Modi inaugurates India AI Impact Expo, sees glimpse of technology

New Delhi, 16 February. The much-awaited India AI Impact Summit began in the national capital on Monday evening. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the India AI Impact Expo at Bharat Mandapam. After the inauguration of the expo, PM Modi visited the pavilions of many companies including Meta and Jio. He visited various stalls to see the technological progress of AI and took information from representatives of startups and companies.

This five-day event, being held for the first time in the Global South, includes around 65 countries and will have the presence of more than 600 startups. It will focus on AI safety, governance, ethical use, data security and development of sovereign AI. One of the big attractions of this summit is the ‘YouthAI’ programme. It is a global youth challenge and aims to spread awareness about AI among students and young professionals.

More than 2,500 applications were received in this challenge from more than 38 countries. Out of this, the top 20 finalists have been selected by the Ministry of Electronics and IT, out of which 15 teams are from India. These top 20 finalists were selected after several rounds of competition in late 2025.

More than 300 foreign journalists

AI Summit is very important in many respects. This is the fourth such event in the whole world, to witness which a large number of Indian and foreign media representatives are coming. So far, more than 300 foreign journalists have registered for the summit. Two floors in Hall No. 1 of Bharat Mandapam have been prepared only for media personnel. Apart from media studio, conference room, there are separate arrangements for virtual studio and podcasts. More than 500 computers have been installed for media personnel.

More than 600 startups will showcase innovation

The India AI Impact Summit will see participation from over 600 high-potential startups who will showcase their solutions that are already in use in the real world. This will include innovations from healthcare, agritech, education, cyber security, urban development and other sectors that point the way to solving problems through AI.

Pavilions of 13 countries in AI Summit

India AI Impact Expo 2026 will also have pavilions from 13 countries showcasing international collaboration in AI systems. These include pavilions from Australia, Japan, Russia, United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Switzerland, Serbia, Estonia, Tajikistan and Africa.
