14 tourist places closed after Pahalgam attack will start, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha gave instructions

Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha took a big decision on Monday and issued an order to reopen 14 tourist places. All these places were closed as a precautionary measure after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam in April last year. The administration hopes that this decision will give new energy to tourism activities in the Union Territory and will also support the local economy.

Strict action after Pahalgam attack

Last year, 26 people, most of whom were tourists, lost their lives in the terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22. After this incident, about 50 tourist places were temporarily closed due to security reasons. The government had clarified that this step has been taken only keeping security in mind.

Now these sites are being reopened in a phased manner after detailed safety review and discussions with agencies. Earlier in September, 12 tourist places were opened. After the latest order, the total number of sites reopened has increased to 26.

Decision after security review

The Lieutenant Governor’s office said in a social media post that a comprehensive assessment of the security arrangements has been done. After this, instructions were given to open many places in Kashmir and Jammu divisions with immediate effect. The administration says that strict security arrangements have been made at these places so that tourists can enjoy the natural beauty without any fear.

Opening places in Kashmir division

Approval has been given to reopen 11 tourist places in Kashmir region. These include Yusmarg, Dudhpathri, Dandipura Park, Peer Ki Gali, Dubhjan, Padpawan, Astanpora, Tulip Garden, Thajwas Glacier, Hung Park and Wular-Watlab.

These places are famous for natural beauty and adventure tourism. Their opening will also provide relief to local hotel, guide and transport businessmen.

Relief in Jammu division also

The three major tourist places of Jammu region, Devi Pindi, Mhow Mangat and Mughal Maidan, have also been opened with immediate effect. Four other places like Gurez, Athvatu, Bangas and Ramkund will be available for tourists after the snow is removed.

Boost to tourism and economy

Tourism plays an important role in the economy of Jammu and Kashmir. In recent years, record numbers of tourists had arrived here, but security incidents had a temporary impact. The government is confident that the reopening of these places will strengthen the confidence of tourists and the valley will be bustling with activity again in the coming season.
