Indian cricket team returned to India after defeating Pakistan, now the next match will be held in Ahmedabad

The Indian cricket team left from Colombo Airport on Monday to return home. The team has confirmed its place in the Super-8 stage of the ICC T20 World Cup by defeating Pakistan in Colombo. The Indian team, led by Suryakumar Yadav, will now reach Ahmedabad, where it has to face Netherlands in its last group stage match. This match between India and Netherlands will be played at Narendra Modi Stadium on Wednesday. India has already reached the next round after registering three consecutive wins in Group A.

Cricket team returned to India

India and Sri Lanka are jointly hosting the T20 World Cup 2026. The Indian team had to go to Colombo as all the matches of Pakistan were scheduled in Sri Lanka. In the match against Pakistan, India batted first and scored 175 runs for seven wickets. Ishan Kishan played a brilliant inning of 77 runs in 40 balls with the help of 10 fours and three sixes. He made an important partnership of 87 runs with Tilak Verma (25) for the second wicket.

Pakistan team could not stand in front of India

Chasing the target of 176 runs, Pakistan team could not stand against the Indian bowlers and were reduced to 114 runs in 18 overs. Hardik Pandya (2 wickets for 16 runs), Varun Chakraborty (2 wickets for 17 runs), Jasprit Bumrah (2 wickets for 17 runs) and Axar Patel (2 wickets for 29 runs) bowled lethally.

India’s eighth win against Pakistan in T20

Ishan Kishan was chosen ‘Player of the Match’ for his excellent batting. With this win, India registered its 16th consecutive win in an ICC tournament after losing the 2023 World Cup final and left behind Australia’s record of 15 consecutive wins. For Pakistan, Usman Khan scored 44 runs, while Shaheen Shah Afridi remained unbeaten on 23 runs. Apart from these, no batsman could play a big innings. This was India’s eighth win in nine matches against Pakistan in T20 World Cup history, while it had to face defeat only once.
