Mumbai: A case of violation of rules during the shooting of the film ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ in South Mumbai has drawn the attention of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. The corporation has taken strict action in this matter.
The A Ward office has written a letter to the Deputy Municipal Commissioner of Zone-1 demanding permanent blacklisting of director Aditya Dhar’s production company B62 Studios. Along with this, a fine of Rs 1 lakh has been recommended for shooting on rooftop without permission and use of two generator vans.
Violation of rules in February
According to officials, the Maharashtra Film, Stage and Cultural Development Corporation had given permission for shooting on Modi Street and Perin Nariman Street on February 7 and 8. It is alleged that the conditions laid down by the police were violated on the set and inflammable material was used here, which was not allowed.
Assurance of not using flammable items
After the first warning, re-applications were made for 13 and 14 February, in which assurances were given that inflammable items would not be used. But at around 12:45 pm on February 14, a complaint was received about burning of torches. Police arrived within 15 minutes and confiscated five burning torches. The Municipal Corporation has also confiscated the security amount of Rs 25 thousand deposited by the applicant. Officials say that surveillance was maintained till 4 pm to ensure that no further rules were violated.
Will B62 Studios’ name be blacklisted?
After the second incident, the A Ward office has recommended that Komal Pokhriyal, Nashir Khan and B62 Studios not be allowed from the State Film Corporation website in future. Calling it a serious matter related to public safety, permission has also been sought to register the seized torches at the Mint Road check post and initiate formal penal proceedings. Officials say that such carelessness in the Fort area can prove dangerous.
