Indigo canceled many international flights till 28th March

Airline Indigo: The country’s largest airline Indigo announced that due to the regional situation in and around Iran, all flights to and from Tbilisi (Georgia), Almaty (Kazakhstan), Baku (Azerbaijan) and Tashkent (Uzbekistan) will now remain canceled till 28 March 2026. This decision is an extension of the earlier announcement (which was till February 28). The airline, while posting on X, clarified that flights to these cities are affected due to the ongoing developments in the airspace in and around Iran. The previously announced cancellation has now been extended to March 28, 2026. The airline said that the safety of passengers and crew is our top priority. We are constantly monitoring the situation and reviewing the schedule so that passengers face minimal inconvenience.

Main reason for avoiding Iranian airspace
Both IndiGo and Air India have completely stopped using Iranian airspace. Flights to these cities normally fly over Iran, but due to rising US-Iran tensions and fears of a possible military conflict, airlines are taking alternative (longer) routes. Several international agencies, including the European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA), are advising to avoid flights in Iranian airspace. This is increasing flight time, increasing fuel consumption and increasing operational challenges.

Changes in Dreamliner (787-9) flights also
Apart from Iran tensions, geopolitical sanctions, airspace closures, airport congestion and increase in flight timings have increased the pressure on IndiGo’s wide-body fleet. As a result flights to Copenhagen are temporarily suspended from 17 February 2026. Weekly flights on the Delhi-London Heathrow route have been reduced from 5 to 4 (from February 9).

Frequency is also being reduced on Delhi-Manchester – first from 5 to 4 (from February 7), then to 3 weekly (from February 19). IndiGo said these changes are to ensure operational reliability and timely access.

advice to look at alternatives
Options for passengers: Full refund or alternative flight options are available to affected passengers. IndiGo has advised passengers to visit IndiGo’s website (goindigo.in/plan-b) to check their options. The airline reiterated that the safety of passengers and crew is of paramount importance. Necessary measures will continue to be taken till the situation becomes normal. Traveling passengers are advised to check the status of their flight on IndiGo app/website or directly from the airline.
