For the first time in the history of Punjab, such a government has come which is chasing away drug sellers – Arvind Kejriwal.
Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann participated in the oath ceremony of the Village Defense Committee (VDC) under the ‘Yudh Nashiyan Virudh’ campaign organized in Killi Chahlan village of Moga. During this, in the presence of thousands of people, the resolve to make Punjab drug free was reiterated.
Large scale action against drugs
Arvind Kejriwal said that action is being taken on a large scale against drugs in the state. He said that more than 2,000 kg of drugs have been recovered in the last one year. Many big smugglers have been arrested and action has been taken against their illegal properties. He said that now fear is disappearing from people’s minds and they are giving information openly.
Government created this special mobile app
The government has taken the initiative to form village defense committees in every village and ward. Respected people of the village, retired teachers, ex-servicemen, youth and sarpanch are being included in these committees. The work of the committee is to provide information about drug sellers and to take drug addicts to the nearest center for treatment. The government has also started a mobile app for this, in which the information given is kept confidential and reaches directly to the Chief Minister’s office.
Sports grounds being built in the state
Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, despite his ill health, reached the function and administered the oath to the people for a drug-free Punjab. He said that the government has strengthened de-addiction centres, where treatment and counseling facilities are being provided. Besides, efforts are being made to connect the youth with sports and employment. He informed that sports grounds are being built in the state and sports material will be made available to the youth.
Government jobs for youth without bribe
The Chief Minister said that till now the government has given government jobs to thousands of youth without any recommendation or bribe. In the coming time, parents will also be made aware through schools, so that children stay away from drugs. Both the leaders expressed confidence that with the cooperation of the public, Punjab will soon be made completely drug free.
