Bank Holidays Alert: If you have to complete some important work in the bank, then this news is very important for you. Banks are going to remain closed in many states for three consecutive days in this week of February. According to the holiday calendar of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), holidays have been declared in different states between 18 to 20 February 2026. Therefore it is important to plan in advance.

18 February: Banks closed on Ramakrishna Jayanti

There will be a local holiday in some states on Wednesday, February 18, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Shri Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Especially bank branches in West Bengal (Kolkata) and Sikkim will remain closed. If you live in these states then avoid visiting the bank on that day.

19 February: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s birth anniversary is celebrated with great pomp on Thursday, 19 February. On this day, banks will remain closed in the entire state of Maharashtra including Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur. There may be holiday in some parts of Karnataka also. People of Maharashtra should complete their banking work by 17th February.

20 February: Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh Foundation Day

Mizoram and Arunachal Pradesh celebrate their Foundation Day on Friday, 20 February. Banks will remain closed in Mizoram (Aizawl) and Arunachal Pradesh (Itanagar) on this day. People of these states need to take special care so that important work does not get stuck.

If banks are closed, will online services also be closed?

Bank branches may remain closed, but digital services will remain operational 24×7. Fund transfer and bill payment can be done through internet banking. Balance check and other services will be available through the mobile app. Cash withdrawal is possible from ATMs, although there may be shortage of cash due to crowding. UPIs like Google Pay, PhonePe and Paytm will continue to operate as normal.

What should customers do?

If you have check clearance, KYC update or any documentary work, then get it done by 17th February or go after 21st February. Especially people of Maharashtra and West Bengal should prepare in advance.

Overall, during this three-day holiday, it would be wise not to go to the bank without knowledge and definitely check the holiday list of your state.
