Deadly attack on BJP leader’s brothers in Jaunpur, questions raised on law and order

Jaunpur.

Two brothers of BJP leader Pintu Sonkar were seriously injured in an attack by bullies in Khanpur Akbar village of Saraikhwaja police station area. One brother was shot in the leg, while the legs of the other were broken. After the incident, the police are being accused of negligence.

The victim, Pintu Sonkar, who is the booth general secretary in BJP, told that his sister’s wedding was on 8th February. On the same day, his brothers Deepak Sonkar and Pankaj Sonkar were going for some work. On the way, Biru Vishwakarma, Shivan Singh and Anand Singh stopped him and attacked him fatally. During this, Pankaj was shot in the leg, while Deepak was seriously injured by being beaten with sticks.

The injured were immediately admitted to the hospital. The police registered a case against the accused, but no one has been arrested so far. The victim’s family alleges that the accused are continuously threatening to kill them.

Demonstration at DM-SP office

On Monday, Pintu Sonkar took his injured brothers in an auto and reached the DM-SP office at the Collectorate and demonstrated demanding action. During this time he tried to meet the SP, but it is alleged that CO Sadar stopped him. Its video is also going viral on social media.

Questioning the law and order situation in his own government, the BJP leader said that he even sought help from the local MLA and the Sports Minister, but did not get any support. He said that his family is feeling helpless due to lack of justice.

Police officials say that an FIR has been registered in the matter and the accused are being searched. Arrests will be made soon and strict action will be taken.

At present, this incident has raised serious questions on the law and order and working style of the police in the district. The victim’s family has demanded speedy justice from higher authorities.
