BNP government is going to be formed in Bangladesh after two decades, the country will get a new Prime Minister
Dhaka, 17 February. The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is set to return to power in the South Asian country after almost two decades. The newly elected MPs of BNP will take oath on Tuesday. Today Bangladesh will get a new Prime Minister. According to local media reports, the swearing-in ceremony for the cabinet will be held at the South Plaza of the Parliament Building. Usually such programs are organized in the Presidential Palace, but today this swearing-in ceremony is being organized in South Plaza.
The event is being organized at South Plaza to remember those who lost their lives during the violent protests in July 2024. The ceremony is expected to be an important political moment for Bangladesh. All 297 newly elected MPs will be administered the oath by Chief Election Commissioner AMM Nasir Uddin at 10:00 am in the oath taking chamber of Parliament. According to Bangladeshi newspaper The Dhaka Tribune, after this he will take membership of the Constitutional Reform Council. The president of BNP is Tariq Rahman and he has won a landslide victory in the national parliamentary elections, paving the way for the formation of a new government.
Around 1,200 dignitaries from Bangladesh and abroad are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected government, which will be held at the South Plaza of the National Parliament Building in Dhaka on Tuesday at 4:00 pm. Many well-known international personalities will be present at the ceremony. Those expected to attend include Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Indian Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla and Pakistan’s Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal. Along with this, Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nand Sharma, Sri Lanka’s Health Minister Nalinda Jayatissa, Britain’s Under Secretary for Indo-Pacific Seema Malhotra and Maldives President Mohammed Muizzu can also attend the ceremony.
Let us tell you, the 13th parliamentary election of Bangladesh was held on 12 February and the Election Commission had announced the winning candidates on 297 seats on the night of 13 February. In the 13th parliamentary elections, voting was held on 299 seats out of 300. The Election Commission declared unofficial results for 297 constituencies. However, after the High Court’s direction, notifications for Chittagong-2 and Chittagong-4 have not been issued yet. As per the results declared so far, BNP has won 209 seats out of 297, and its candidates are leading in two constituencies, including Chittagong-2 and 4, where the results have been withheld. His allies have claimed three seats.
