Fire in SLR coach of New Delhi-Chennai Express, accident happened near Nagpur, see VIDEO

Grant Trunk Express Fire: A coach of New Delhi-Chennai Grant Trunk Express caught fire in Wardha district of Maharashtra on Tuesday morning. The incident occurred when train 12616 New Delhi-Chennai (Tambaram) Grant Trunk Express was heading towards Sindhi railway station. After seeing the smoke, the train had to be stopped at Sindhi-Tuljapur section considering the last guard coach as affected. Railway staff immediately separated the affected coach from the rest of the train and firefighters brought the fire under control. There are no reports of any passengers or staff being injured.

Railways said that a detailed investigation will be conducted to find out the cause of the fire. The train will resume its journey soon after the affected coach is isolated.

What did the officer say?

Central Railway spokesperson Sanjay Mule told PTI that smoke was seen in the last guard coach of the train at 11:09 am while heading towards Sindhi railway station in Wardha district. The affected compartment was immediately separated from the rest of the train and firefighters were called.

Passenger safety and further action

Indian Railways official said that all the passengers traveling in the train and the concerned coach were safe. The exact cause of the fire will be known only after a detailed investigation. The train will resume its journey in some time after isolating the affected coach.
