Pressure in international market also

In the global market too, gold and silver prices fell for the second consecutive day. During Asian trading, spot gold slipped by about 0.43 percent to $ 4,992 an ounce. At the same time, there was a sharp decline of about 3 percent in spot silver and it reached around $ 74.24 per ounce.

The effect of weakness in the international market was clearly visible on the Indian market also.

Mixed effect of American data

American economic data is being considered a major reason behind the fall in prices. Consumer inflation in America was lower than expected in January, but employment figures were better than expected. Both these signals have affected the market’s thinking regarding the policies of the US central bank Federal Reserve.

The market currently expects that the Federal Reserve will not change interest rates in the meeting on March 18. However, there is a possibility of rate cut by July and there is hope of cut in June also. Generally, gold gets support from the possibility of reduction in interest rates, but due to lack of clear signal regarding the policy, there is pressure on prices.
