Video | Rajpal Yadav walks out of Tihar Jail after surrendering in cheque-bounce case

New Delhi: Actor Rajpal Yadav finally walked out of jail today. He was granted interim bail in the  Rs 9 crore cheque bounce case yesterday, on February 16. However, the release was delayed due to paperwork.

Speaking to the media outside the jail, Rajpal stated, “I will complete 30 years in Bollywood in Mumbai in 2027. People from all over the country, children, old and young, are with me… The way the entire country and the world, my Bollywood, has loved me, if there are any allegations against me, I am available to answer. Thank you, High Court.”

The Delhi High Court offered temporary relief to the actor in the case that is linked to his 2012 film, Ata Pata Laapata. The actor had surrendered at Tihar Jail on February 5 after the court ordered his custody in the cheque-bounce case. The principal loan amount of the money in dispute was Rs 5 crore. However, it has now amounted to Rs 9 crore, including interest and penalties.

Meanwhile, Madhav Gopal Agrawal, who loaned the actor money, reiterated that the money was borrowed as a loan and not an investment. He also stressed the fact that Rajpal had provided him with cheques and guarantees.

Bollywood came to support Rajpal following his surrender. They promised him money and even work.

“Rajpal Yadav is a gifted actor who has given years of unforgettable work to our industry. Sometimes life turns unfair, not because of talent, but because timing can be brutal. He will be part of my film, and I believe this is the moment for all of us. producers, directors, colleagues to stand together. A small signing amount, adjustable against future work, is not charity, it’s dignity,” said Sonu Sood on social media.

He even shared a post yesterday, praying for the actor to get bail.

“Today is an important day for our brother Rajpal Yadav bhai. Praying that things move in the right direction and he gets the relief he deserves. He’s a rare talent and a wonderful soul,” said Sood.

The names of those who helped the actor have not been released.
