(Dr.) Bharat Raj Singh.

This book presents an in-depth analysis of the new threats facing the Aravalli mountain range. Mining-based so-called development, lax environmental laws and policy imbalance have seriously endangered the water resources, forest cover and ecological balance of the Aravalli. It has been made clear in this book that Aravali is not just a mountain range, but a natural protective shield for the climate and rainfall cycle of North and West India.

Its degradation is causing widespread effects like decline in groundwater level, agricultural crisis, unemployment among youth and social instability. The author and editor have powerfully established the fact that the Aravali crisis is not just an environmental issue but a national question related to water security, food security, democratic values and the rights of future generations. Therefore, conservation of Aravali is a collective and national responsibility of all of us. This book will prove to be an important document for policy-makers, environmentalists, researchers, academicians and the general public.
