Store lemon now for summer, making shikanji and lemonade will become easy…
Shikanji or lemon water provides great relief in the summer season, and it is fun to drink it. If a guest comes to the house, many times we do not have lemon to make lemonade immediately. In such a situation, preserving lemon juice beforehand is very useful. If stored properly, its taste and nutrients remain preserved to a great extent. Let us know the step-by-step method by which you can store it from now on.
Easy way to preserve lemon juice
Choose fresh and good lemons
Take thin-skinned, heavy and juicy lemons. Do not buy lemons that have spots or are rotten.
wash and dry thoroughly
Wash the lemon with clean water. If you want, soak it in lightly salted water for 5 minutes and then wash it. Dry completely, so that moisture does not cause fungus.
extract juice
Roll the lemon lightly so that the juice comes out easily. Extract the juice using a juicer or by hand. Strain through a sieve to separate seeds and pulp.
Prepare sterilized bottles
Sterilize the glass bottle by boiling it for 10 minutes. Dry completely. (If moisture remains, the juice may spoil quickly.)
Preserve in different ways
Method 1- Storing in the fridge (1–2 weeks) Fill the filtered juice in a bottle. Adding a little salt on top increases the shelf life. Keep an airtight lid in the refrigerator.
Method 2-Freezer Cubes (3–4 Months)
Fill the juice in an ice tray. After freezing, put the cubes in a zip bag. Use one cube each as per need.
Method 3-Making syrup by adding sugar (for long term use)
Mix 1 cup sugar in 1 cup juice and heat it lightly (do not boil). When it cools down, fill it in a bottle and keep it in the refrigerator. It can remain safe for 2-3 months.
things to keep in mind
