Warrant issued against Bhavish Aggarwal, understand what was the whole matter?

South Goa District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission has issued a bailable warrant against Bhavish Aggarwal, Founder and CEO of Ola Electric. The warrant was issued because he did not appear before the commission in a consumer complaint case, even though a notice had been sent to him earlier.

This matter is related to the complaint of a customer Pritesh Chandrakant Ghadi. He purchased Ola S1 Pro 2nd Gen scooter in August 2023 for ₹1.47 lakh. Shortly after purchasing the scooter, strange noises started coming from the scooter’s motor and the touchscreen was not working properly. He took it to Ola dealer in Vasco (Goa) to get it fixed but even after a lot of time, the scooter was still missing. No response was received after contacting the company several times.

Scooty went missing

In the hearing on January 20, 2026, the Commission said that the scooter is not being traced, hence Ola Electric CEO Bhavish Aggarwal should appear in person and tell where the scooter is and why the scooter was not returned to the customer. She was asked to appear on February 4 but she did not appear before the commission. Therefore the Commission issued a bailable warrant.

According to the warrant, Bengaluru Police has to arrest Bhavish Aggarwal and produce him before the Commission at Margao (South Goa) on 23 February 2026 at 10:30 am. Since it is a bailable warrant, they can be released after giving a bond of ₹1.47 lakh and a surety. This amount is equal to the price of the scooter.

Allegation of negligence in service

Commission Chairman Sanjay Chodankar said in the order that the company took money from the customer but was negligent in service. There have been many complaints against Ola Electric in Goa in the past, such as delay in service, non-availability of spare parts etc. In this case the customer has demanded full refund and ₹50,000 compensation.

The next hearing will be on 23 February. This incident is a big blow for Ola Electric, however, the strictness regarding consumer rights is increasing.
