Fake news is continuously being spread on social media regarding 8th pay commission. Taking advantage of this, criminals are making employees victims of fraud. Meanwhile, a warning has been issued by 4C for government employees.
8th pay commission: All government employees have been waiting for the 8th Pay Commission for a long time. Taking advantage of this, many cyber fraudsters are cheating people by spreading misleading information. Cyber criminals are sending such messages to employees claiming that what will be their new salary after the implementation of the 8th Pay Commission. It is written in these messages that if you also want to know your salary according to the 8th Pay Commission, then you will have to download this file. The thing to note is that people are being cheated by using this file as a weapon.
Warning from I4C for government employees
Now taking cognizance of this matter, Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Center (I4C) has issued an important warning for government employees. Cyber Security Unit has informed that an attempt is being made to commit fraud through WhatsApp in the name of fake information related to the 8th Pay Commission. This unit of the Home Ministry says that as soon as a person installs that APK file in his phone, hackers get access to the device.
In this way a criminal hacks the phone
After this, criminals can withdraw money from the account within a few minutes by obtaining the banking details, OTP and other sensitive information present in the mobile. The agency has made it clear that the government never shares information related to salary, pension or pay commission through APK file. In such a situation, now cyber security agencies have advised employees to be alert. According to the security agency, do not trust any suspicious WhatsApp message, email or call, especially if it is related to salary revision. Avoid downloading APK files from unknown or unverified sources.
How do you become a victim of cyber fraud?
- It is noteworthy that government departments never send .APK files through WhatsApp.
- For correct information related to Pay Commission, salary or pension, only official website. Visit only.
- What actually happens is that whenever we download an APK file, the security cover of the phone does not allow it.
- Therefore, we have to go to Settings and turn on the Unknown Sources option.
- This step makes the security of the phone weak.
