Rohit Paudel’s happiness: Nepal registers 7-wicket win over Scotland in T20 World Cup
Nepal defeated Scotland by 7 wickets at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Tuesday to achieve its first win in the T20 World Cup since 2014. The win proved to be a very special one for captain Rohit Paudel, his first league stage win in his second World Cup.
Scotland scored 170 runs losing 7 wickets in 20 overs. Nepal achieved the target in 19.2 overs. Paudel praised Deependra’s innings and said that this match proved to be a turning point for the team.
“This win means a lot to me. This is my second World Cup as captain and it is great to get our first win in the league. This match was very important for the team as well,” he said. Thanking the Nepali fans, Paudel said that despite the defeat against England, they came to the stadium full.
Emphasizing the lessons learned from the England match, the captain said how important it is to remain calm under pressure. There is pressure on bowlers and batsmen in the last overs, but with patience the opportunity can be taken advantage of.
There were good performances against Scotland and England, but defeats against Italy and West Indies were disappointing. Still, there is satisfaction at the personal level, although the target of Super-8 remained unfulfilled. This victory gives new hope to the future of Nepal cricket.
