What did the father of the accused minor say?

The father of the accused teenager said in a conversation with Aaj Tak that ‘This was a serious mistake, for which I am very, very sorry.’ He further said that ‘I am very embarrassed’. He told that at the time of the accident he was in Gorakhpur for work.

According to him, the son might have taken the keys of the car out of ignorance. Had I been in Delhi, perhaps this incident would not have happened. His mother was at home, he was ignorant and because of that he misbehaved. When I am at home, I maintain a strict atmosphere at home. The father claims that his son did not flee from the spot and helped take the injured to the hospital.

On the question of there already being many challans on the SUV Scorpio, the father said that he has a commercial business and the car is mostly driven by drivers. Investigation revealed that there were 13 challans on this vehicle, out of which 9 were for speeding.

How did the accident happen?

According to the police, the Scorpio being driven by a minor hit the bike coming from the front and then collided with a taxi parked on the roadside. Sahil Dhanshera was declared dead on the spot, while taxi driver Ajit Singh was injured. During investigation it also came to light that the teenager did not have a valid driving license. Police say that after the accident he declared his age as 19 years, whereas according to the birth certificate he was born in August 2009.

Was the accused making a ‘reel’?

The victim’s mother Inna Maken claimed that on February 3, the teenager had gone out with his sister to make a reel. He said that ‘the speed at which the Scorpio was moving is clearly visible in the reels. The accused was driving in the wrong lane, came directly in front of a bus and performed a stunt while making reels. He appealed to the parents not to give the keys of the car to minor children.

Mother’s pain-‘I lost everything’

Sitting in her son’s room, Inna Maken said, ‘I lost everything. That was all I had.’ Through tears, she said, “I hope my son’s sacrifice becomes a lesson for everyone. Make the future of your children secure. If people don’t learn the lesson now, more mothers will continue to lose their children.”

He told that he raised Sahil alone and worked hard day and night for his education. I don’t have any option left now. No family, no other children, no other reason. Everything is over… now all that is left for me is to get him justice,” he said

Dreams left unfulfilled?

The posters in Sahil’s room testify to his big dreams. It was written on a poster – He wants to fly in first class. I want to buy my own plane. The goal written on the roof – ‘2025 will be my year.’ A $1,000,000 ($1 million) year!’ Mother told that he often used to say that Mummy, you and I will live in this house.

What next action?

The minor was produced before the Juvenile Justice Board and sent to observation home. Later he was given interim relief to appear for the 10th board exam. According to his lawyer, he will surrender again on March 7.
