In a clip going viral on social media, Pakistan’s opening batting pair — Shaheen Afridi and Usman Tariq — is seen looking at the Indian players. It is being claimed that both the players were waiting to shake hands with the Indian team after the match was over.

In the video, Indian players are seen celebrating the victory and congratulating each other, while Pakistani players return to the pavilion after staying there for a few moments. However, it has not been clearly confirmed whether they stopped specifically for the handshake or for some other reason.

It is noteworthy that since the 2025 Asia Cup, the India national cricket team has adopted a ‘no-handshake’ policy in cricket against Pakistan. This decision was taken after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, in which 26 people lost their lives.

It is said that this policy is currently limited to Cricket and Kabaddi, whereas in other sports like Hockey and Tennis, players of both the countries have been shaking hands in the spirit of traditional sports.

Even during the match, a formal distance was visible between the two teams. There was no traditional handshake between Indian captain Suryakumar Yadav and Pakistan captain Salman Ali Aga at the time of toss. Even after the match, Indian players did not shake hands with the rival team.
