Zimbabwe qualifies for Super-8
Sri Lanka: The 32nd group stage match of the T20 World Cup 2026 was to be played between Zimbabwe and Ireland. This match was to be held at Pallekele Stadium in Sri Lanka but due to rain this match was canceled. It kept raining the whole time during this match. Due to which even the toss could not take place. In the end the match was abandoned without even a single ball being bowled. With the cancellation of this match, the Zimbabwean team managed to reach the Super-8. The journey of the Kangaroo team ended in this World Cup.
Zimbabwe reached Super-8 with five points
After the Zimbabwe vs Ireland match was cancelled, one point each was distributed between the two teams. With this, Zimbabwe has five points and Ireland has three points. Zimbabwe and Australia still have to play one more match each in the group stage. Even after winning that match, Australia’s team will be able to reach maximum four points, hence their journey in this World Cup has ended. Zimbabwe’s next match will be against Sri Lanka and Australia’s next match will be against Oman.
Zimbabwe team has won two matches
Zimbabwe’s performance in this World Cup has been excellent. The team has played three matches so far, out of which one match has been canceled due to rain, while they have won two matches. Zimbabwe defeated Oman by 8 wickets in their first match. In the second match they defeated Australia by 23 runs. Now Zimbabwe team will play its next match against Sri Lanka on 19 February.
Australian team has suffered two defeats
Talking about Australia, their team’s performance in this World Cup has not been as per expectations. His team had defeated Ireland by 67 runs in its first match, but after that his team has lost two consecutive matches. Australia was first defeated by Zimbabwe by 23 runs. After that they also had to face defeat from Sri Lanka by 8 wickets. With these two defeats, Australia’s journey in this World Cup has ended. Now their next match will be against Oman on 20 February.
