‘When it is no longer real, then this’, Himanta’s sharp reaction on Humayun Kabir’s Babri Masjid, gave a controversial statement
Himanta Biswa Sarma Controversial Comment on Babri Masjid Murshidabad: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma reacted strongly to the proposed construction of Babri Masjid in Murshidabad. He gave this statement during his visit to Mirzapur. Sarma said it was “just an effigy of the Babri Masjid, not the real mosque. When the real mosque no longer exists, what will its effigy do?” After his statement the political atmosphere has become more heated.
Humayun Kabir, who has been suspended from the All India Trinamool Congress (TMC), has announced the construction of a new mosque in the name of Babri Masjid in Rezinagar in Beldanga area of Murshidabad district of West Bengal. After this announcement, political and social debate on this issue has intensified in the state. Kabir has claimed that the construction work of the mosque has started and it will be completely ready within the next two decades.
Humayun Kabir formed a new party
The gallery cost of the project is said to be between Rs 50 and Rs 55 crore. Active participation of local people and consumers is being seen in the construction work. Many people have also been seen volunteering as laborers and carrying construction materials.
After suspension from TMC, Humayun Kabir has formed his new political party ‘Janata Samikit Party’ (JUP). He said that no one should hinder the construction of the mosque, because the Constitution of the country gives freedom to every person to practice his religion and build religious places. Kabir also made it clear that his aim is not to create an atmosphere against anyone, but to follow his religious beliefs. He said that he will not oppose anyone in the name of Islam and his aim is only to show devotion to his faith.

Political turmoil in Bengal
Political activities have intensified regarding the upcoming elections in West Bengal. This time Mamata Banerjee’s government is facing challenges on two fronts simultaneously. On one hand, the state government has started a legal battle in the Supreme Court of India against the Narendra Modi-led central government and the Election Commission of India over the issue. On the other hand, Humayun Kabir is also continuously adopting an attacking stance on Mamata Banerjee, due to which the politics of the state has become more heated.
