Ranchi: The campaign for municipal elections in Jharkhand is at its peak. Candidates are adopting all kinds of tactics to woo the public. Meanwhile, Somvit Maji, son of JMM’s Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Maji, has been accused of luring the public. Somvit Maji is standing for councilor from Ward No. 18 of Ranchi Municipal Corporation area. On Tuesday, a BJP delegation led by Sudhir Srivastava reached the State Election Commission office to lodge a written complaint against Somvit Maji.

Making a written complaint to State Election Commission Secretary Radheshyam Prasad, BJP leader Sudhir Srivastava said that Somvit Maji, son of Dr. Mahua Maji, is contesting from Ward No. 18 in Ranchi Municipal Corporation. The BJP leader alleges that in a meeting where Somvit Maji’s photo was displayed, Rs 3,000 per vote was announced for voting in support of Somvit Maji. The video of that announcement has been made available to the Commission in a pen drive.

BJP leader Sudhir Srivastava said that it has been openly announced to give money per vote. Due to this, the voters of Ward 18 are suspicious that their supported candidates may commit some major scandal at the behest of the government. In such a situation, there is an atmosphere of fear among the voters. The delegation urged the Commission to take action against Ward No. 18 candidate Somvit Maji and the person who announced Rs 3,000 per vote. The Commission has assured that the matter will be investigated. Anil Kumar Singh was also included in the BJP delegation.
