BNP Standing Committee member and Cox’s Bazar-1 MP Salahuddin Ahmed said that the party is fully committed to implementing the July National Charter in the same form as was agreed upon in the document signed between the political parties. He made this statement after the first meeting of the parliamentary party at the Parliament House.

According to the Charter, the Council will complete the process of these reforms within 180 working days after its first meeting.
  5. It was named after the 2024 July Movement, after which there was a political change and Sheikh Hasina had to leave power.
  6. There is a proposal to create an Upper House with 100 seats, whose seats will be decided on the basis of national vote percentage of the parties.
  7. No person will be able to remain Prime Minister indefinitely. It is proposed in the July National Charter that a fixed maximum number of terms for the Prime Minister to remain in office will be determined.
  8. The July Charter talks about increasing the representation of women in Parliament.
  9. Along with this, it also includes the provision of giving the leader of the opposition the post of deputy speaker and chairmanship of parliamentary committees.
