2025 EV Sales In India Report Card: Top 5 Best Selling EVs
Electric vehicles have gained significant popularity in the Indian market over the last five years. While people were initially hesitant, they gradually adapted to this change, and we have seen many examples online where owners claim to be happier with their EVs than they were with their ICE vehicles. The sales numbers clearly reflect this growing trend. Here is a list of the five best-selling EVs in the Indian market for the year 2025.
MG Windsor EV
MG Motor India launched the MG Windsor EV in 2024. Almost a year later, they introduced the Windsor EV Pro with more features, including ADAS. The Windsor EV immediately became a hit despite its odd-looking exterior design.

It was marketed as a CUV and offered an extremely spacious cabin that felt premium. The pricing was another major factor that made it appealing to buyers. MG also offers BaaS (Battery as a Service) with the Windsor and its other EVs, which further reduces the upfront cost of the vehicle.
The price of the MG Windsor EV starts at ₹14 lakh (ex-showroom) and goes up to ₹18.50 lakh (ex-showroom). In 2025, the Windsor EV was the best-selling EV in the country, with MG selling 42,356 units.
Tata Nexon EV
The next best-selling EV in India comes from Tata Motors. In 2025, Tata sold 24,612 units of the Nexon EV in the Indian market. The Nexon EV was the first affordable electric SUV on sale in India and was priced aggressively.

Tata also introduced timely updates to the Nexon EV, ensuring customers did not lose interest despite rising competition in the segment. The Nexon EV is available with 30 kWh and 45 kWh battery pack options. Prices start at ₹12.49 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to ₹17.49 lakh (ex-showroom).
Mahindra XEV 9E
Another Indian brand on this list is Mahindra & Mahindra with the Mahindra XEV 9E. The brand launched its born-electric SUVs towards the end of 2024, and deliveries began in 2025. Buyers appreciated Mahindra’s EVs for their design, features, and large battery packs. One of the biggest highlights was the competitive pricing.

The XEV 9E is a large five-seater electric SUV suitable for families, while the BE 6 is targeted at younger customers. The XEV 9E performed well in terms of sales last year. It is available with 59 kWh and 79 kWh battery packs, and prices start at ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to ₹31.25 lakh (ex-showroom). Mahindra sold 22,266 units of the XEV 9E in India in 2025.
Tata Punch EV
The entry-level electric SUV from Tata is expected to receive an update this year. The current version of the Punch EV has been extremely popular since its launch in 2024. It was the first model to be based on Tata’s EV-specific platform.

It is available with 25 kWh and 35 kWh battery pack options. Prices start at ₹9.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to ₹14.44 lakh (ex-showroom). The Punch EV has a five-star safety rating, which further boosted its popularity. Tata sold 16,763 units of the Punch EV in 2025, and the numbers are expected to grow in 2026 with the introduction of a bigger battery pack.
Tata Tiago EV
The list of best-selling EVs in India is dominated by Tata Motors, which clearly shows how serious the brand is about this segment. The last EV on this list is the entry-level electric vehicle from Tata, the Tiago EV.

It is available with 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery pack options. Prices start at ₹7.99 lakh (ex-showroom) and go up to ₹11.14 lakh (ex-showroom). Tata sold 16,247 units of the Tiago EV in 2025.
