The accused told that they had ordered the knives used in the crime online. As the investigation progressed, the source of purchase reached the Blinkit platform. According to police officials, the sale of switchblade knives falls under the category of prohibited by law. Open sale of such weapons is considered a violation of the provisions of the Arms Act. It is alleged that these were being listed and delivered on the platform as normal kitchen tools.
The police himself placed the order posing as a customer.
To confirm the suspicion, the police adopted the strategy of posing as customers and placing orders. Officials said that a button knife was delivered during the test purchase, which primarily confirmed the violation of the rules. After this an FIR was registered against the company. The investigation did not stop here. Police teams raided many dark stores and warehouses in Delhi. During the operation several dozen button knives were recovered.
Police say that a notice will be sent to the company soon and a reply will be sought from the responsible officials.
Delhi Police says that investigation is ongoing and if negligence or ignorance of rules is proved, strict action will be taken.
