Mayawati’s big announcement before UP assembly elections, decided to contest 2027 elections alone, called SP alliance a propaganda
digital desk- BSP supremo Mayawati has put a complete stop to the speculations of SP-BSP alliance in the politics of Uttar Pradesh. In the press conference held in the capital Lucknow, he clearly said that the news of alliance is just “propaganda” and Bahujan Samaj Party will contest the 2027 assembly elections on its own. Mayawati alleged that past experiences show that alliances harm the BSP’s vote bank, while other parties benefit. He accused SP, Congress and BJP of “anti-Ambedkar” politics and appealed to supporters to beware of rumours. According to him, such discussions are being deliberately spread to weaken the party.
Controversy started due to Akhilesh’s statement
Actually, the controversy started with the statement of Akhilesh Yadav, in which he had talked about “sweetness” in relations with BSP. Akhilesh had said that relations can become stronger in future and it is necessary to come together to strengthen the PDA (Backward, Dalit, Minority) equation. He had hinted at possible cooperation by citing the old political alliances of Baba Saheb-Lohia and Mulayam-Kanshi Ram. However, after Mayawati’s latest statement, these signals have come to an end. BSP has made it clear that it will not enter into any electoral pact with any party.
BJP took a jibe
Meanwhile, Bharatiya Janata Party has also jumped into this political rhetoric. Yogi government minister Dharampal Singh reminded him of the “guest house scandal” surrounding Akhilesh Yadav and termed this possible closeness as opportunism. BJP leaders say that the public understands these political equations very well.
Different paths to 2027
After Mayawati’s announcement, it has become clear that SP and BSP will follow different paths in the 2027 assembly elections. The BSP supremo said that instead of taking support from anyone’s shoulder, her party will move forward on the mission of forming the government with the support of the Bahujan Samaj. Political analysts believe that with this decision the election picture of Uttar Pradesh can become more interesting. While SP is trying to strengthen the PDA equation, BSP is working on a strategy to organize its traditional vote bank. At present, the speculations about the alliance have come to an end and all the parties have started preparing to enter the fray with their respective strategies for the political battle of 2027.
