The Supreme Court took suo motu hearing on the decision of the Allahabad High Court and on February 10 ordered to overturn the decision of the High Court. Along with this, the Supreme Court also reinstated the strict charges against the accused under the POCSO law.

In a complaint lodged with the police on November 10, 2021, a woman said that she and her 14-year-old minor daughter were returning home from her sister-in-law’s house. During this time, Pawan, Akash and Ashok from his village offered to drop his daughter home on a motorcycle. The woman alleged that the three accused molested her daughter and also pulled the string of her pajama. Hearing the scream of the girl, two people reached there and seeing them, the three accused fled from the spot.
