Sanjay Krishnamurthi’s Personal Life
One of the earliest memories connected to his cricket journey comes from his father, Satya Krishnamurthi. Satya remembers taking a young Sanjay to the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to watch India vs New Zealand in a Test match. Sanjay was only around eight years old then, and he was deeply into the match. Satya still remembers how disappointed Sanjay looked when Sachin Tendulkar got out, because it felt like a big emotional moment for him as a young cricket fan.
Sanjay’s parents never forced cricket on him with some fixed plan. Satya explained that it started with simple support and encouragement, letting Sanjay enjoy the game and grow naturally. During his school years, Sanjay studied at Ebenezer International School in Bengaluru. There he trained under coach Syed Zabiulla, who later described him as someone quiet who doesn’t speak much and prefers staying focused in the present instead of overthinking.
A major turning point in his personal life came in March 2020, when his family moved from Bengaluru to the San Francisco Bay Area in the United States, right during the pandemic. It was a huge change because India is a place where cricket is everywhere.
He is studying for a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and is in his final year. According to his father, he still has four courses left to complete. Managing international cricket travel along with studies has been difficult, but some professors have been supportive, and online learning options have helped him keep up.
His father also pointed out that balancing cricket and a full degree is something that is much easier in the US compared to India, even though it is still stressful.
When he finally played against India at Wankhede, it became a major personal moment for his family. Satya said that after the match, they received hundreds of messages from people, and the sudden attention felt overwhelming.
