The controversy started over a Hanuman statue in Texas. This Hanuman statue in Texas was unveiled in 2024. It is one of the tallest Hindu idols in America. It is the third tallest statue in America overall. But in the era of Trump, suddenly this statue is being mocked again and again. Last year, Republican leader Alexander Duncan said, ‘Why should we allow a fake statue of a fake Hindu god to stay in Texas? We are a Christian country.’ According to him, there should be no idols of Hindu gods in Christian countries.

Although constitutionally or officially, America is not a Christian country, but a secular state. Majority of the citizens of that country practice Christianity. But once again the Hindu deity was mocked in the US. The social worker named Carlos shared the video of Hanuman Murthy on his X handle and wrote, ‘This is not Islamabad in Pakistan or New Delhi in India. This is Texas. But third world aliens are coming and taking over Texas and America. Why this statue will be the third tallest statue in America? Stop this aggression.’

Seeing this post, the people of Indian origin living in America are angry. According to them, the social activist has insulted Indians and their religion by comparing them to the third world. Netizens have reminded that idols have been built in accordance with all rules on legally purchased land. So why object to it? Moreover, why use such insulting language around the statue of the god?
