ICC T20 World Cup 2026: Pakistan beats Namibia by 102 runs, picture of Super-8 completely clear; Know the complete schedule
ICC T20 World Cup 2026 Super 8 Schedule: The group stage of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 has now reached its decisive point and with Pakistan’s victory over Namibia on Wednesday (Pakistan defeated Namibia by 102 runs), the picture of Super-8 has become completely clear. The names of all the 8 teams that will advance to the next stage of the tournament have been finalised, after which cricket fans are now waiting for high-voltage matches.
In fact, in the match against Namibia, Pakistan batted first and scored a strong score of 199 runs in 20 overs. Opener Sahibzada Farhan’s century was the most important in taking the team to this big score. After this, the Namibian team, which came to chase the target of 200 runs, looked completely helpless in front of the Pakistani bowlers at the Sinhalese Sports Club ground in Colombo and was reduced to just 98 runs. The story of Pakistan’s victory was written in the bowling, where mystery spinner Usman Tariq took 4 wickets, while Shadab Khan broke the back of Namibia’s batting order by taking 3 wickets.
On the basis of this brilliant all-round performance, Pakistan easily won the match and secured its place in the Super-8. At the same time, Sahibzada Farhan was chosen player of the match for his excellent century innings.
Earlier on Tuesday, after the New Zealand vs Canada match, there were indications that the picture of Super-8 is almost clear, but the final confirmation came after Pakistan’s victory. With this win, Pakistan secured second position in Group A with 6 points, while USA slipped to third position with 4 points. At the same time, the match between India (number 1) and Netherlands (fourth position) in Group-A will not have any impact on the mathematics of Super-8, because despite defeating India, Netherlands can score maximum 4 points only. Therefore Netherlands has also been eliminated.
group stage squeeze
After the conclusion of the group stage it became clear that:
- India and Pakistan from Group A
- Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe from Group B
- From Group C and D, West Indies, England, South Africa and New Zealand have made it to the Super-8.
Now the Super-8 stage has been divided into two groups—Group 1 and Group 2. Each team will play one match each against the remaining three teams of its group. After this the top two teams will enter the semi-finals.
India’s Super-8 campaign
The Indian team performed strongly in the group stage, won all its matches and entered the Super-8 with the top position. Now India will face South Africa in the very first match. After this, Team India will face Zimbabwe and West Indies. This phase will be very important for India because it is from here that the picture of the semi-finals will be decided.
