Delhi. Google Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sundar Pichai on Wednesday said that India is on an ‘extraordinary journey’ in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) and the company is fully committed to being a partner in this AI transformation of the country.
Pichai said,AI is the biggest change of our lifetimeHe also highlighted its potential to solve major challenges at scale, from improving health screening to providing real-time information and warnings to farmers.
He noted that India’s diversity, linguistic environment and strong digital public infrastructure make it “A powerful foundation for innovation“And creates a solid blueprint for the democratization of AI on a global scale.
Pichai emphasized that trust, security, and inclusion should be prioritized when adopting AI. “AI must work across different languages and local contexts,” he said. It must provide real benefits that people can rely on.
Trust grows when technology is transparent, responsible and based on concrete results.” Google CEO also announced ‘India-US Connect Initiative’. It is a project to lay new undersea cable routes to increase AI connectivity between the US, India and several locations in the Southern Hemisphere.
Pichai also mentioned the previously announced $15 billion AI center in India, which will house gigawatt-scale compute and an international undersea cable route. This will generate employment and develop advanced AI infrastructure in the country. He also unveiled ambitious skills programs including ‘Google AI Professional Certificate Programme’ in English and Hindi for students and early career professionals.
Other initiatives include a partnership with ‘Karmayogi Bharat’ to support over two crore public servants, collaboration with ‘Atal Tinkering Labs’ to introduce generative AI tools in 10,000 schools and a $30 million ‘AI for Science Impact Challenge’ to boost global research.
