Eating at midnight is harmful for health, causes obesity and stress

Many people have the habit of eating food at midnight; they feel the urge to eat something at that time. This habit not only increases obesity but also spoils sleep and harms the digestive system. This may fill the stomach but it can cause many problems to health.

The National Health Mission advises people to avoid eating anything at midnight. According to health experts, eating or snacking late at night or just before sleeping is very harmful for health. According to the Health Mission, the body needs rest and recovery at night and not extra calories. When we eat food near bedtime, the body’s metabolism slows down. Food is not digested properly and gets stored in the form of calories, due to which weight increases rapidly. This increases the risk of problems like obesity, diabetes, high blood pressure and heart disease.

Late night snacking also badly affects sleep. Eating heavy or sugary food can cause acid reflux, indigestion and sleep disturbance. Lack of good sleep increases fatigue, irritability, weak immunity and mental stress. In the long run, this habit can also invite depression and other health problems.

In such a situation, experts give some simple suggestions to prevent obesity and adopt a healthy lifestyle, like eating dinner at least 2-3 hours before sleeping. Do not eat anything after 8-9 pm, especially chips, biscuits, chocolate, ice cream or fried food. If you feel very hungry, you can have a glass of milk. Eat a balanced diet during the day, so that you feel less hungry at night. Make a habit of regular exercise and sleeping on time.

It is very important to adopt a healthy lifestyle for weight control. Obesity can be easily prevented by changing small habits. By giving up the habit of eating late at night, one can get better digestion, deep sleep and a fit body.
