New Delhi, 18 February. French President Emmanuel Macron is on a three-day visit to India. During this, he also held bilateral talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Mumbai. Now Macron has also shared an AI picture with PM Modi.

AI Macron will participate in the Impact Summit
It is noteworthy that during the bilateral talks between the two leaders in Mumbai on Tuesday, there was discussion on increasing cooperation in areas like defence, trade, technology, space, energy and innovation. President Macron will participate in the AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi on Thursday, the last day of his three-day India tour, where India and France will together make a strategy on cooperation in the field of Artificial Intelligence.
Will France be able to become the new Russia for India??
At present the biggest question is whether France will now be able to become the new Russia for India. Russia was India’s largest defense partner for decades. But now the picture is changing. According to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI) data, Russia’s share in India’s defense imports was 70-80% in 1999-2012, but it declined to 36% in 2020-24 while France came second with 33%.
Now after the proposed deal of 114 Rafale fighter planes, France can become India’s biggest defense partner. After the bilateral meeting held in Mumbai, Prime Minister Modi announced that India and France will together make the world’s first helicopter that can fly to the height of Mount Everest. The assembly line of this helicopter H-125 has started in India in partnership with Airbus and Tata Advanced Systems Limited. This helicopter will be important for rescue and high-altitude military operations and will be exported all over the world.
