10th class student jumped from the train, died after not getting entry in the board exam center
**Komal Kumari**, a 15-16 year old class 10 student from Kharajama village (in Masauri police area of Patna district), was staying at her relatives’ house in Maharajchak to appear for her exams at Barani High School, about 6 km away. The reporting time was 9:00 am, but she arrived around 9:07–9:15 am (reports vary slightly), after the gates closed. Despite being told that the exam had started at 9:30 am and emphasizing its importance for her future, the invigilator/staff refused entry due to strict rules of BSEB regarding late admission.
Frustrated, she returned home, changed her clothes and later went to Nadaul railway station. She boarded a moving train and jumped between Taregna and Masodhi Court stations. Railway police recovered her body, which was not initially identified, and shared its photographs on social media. The local people/villagers recognized him and informed the family. He was taken to hospital but was declared dead on arrival (or shortly after).
Komal was the eldest of three siblings (two younger brothers); Her father, Mantu Yadav, works as a migrant laborer outside Bihar. Relatives, including aunt Sunita Kumari, alleged that the refusal left her so distressed that she committed suicide.
The case has sparked anger over Bihar’s strict exam protocols, with calls for flexibility in special cases (e.g., a short delay) and better support for students under pressure. It showcases mental health concerns amid high-stakes board exams. Police are investigating and are considering it a suicide related to exam refusal; There is no news of any irregularity. The incident parallels other exam day incidents in Bihar, including students coming late trying to scale walls at the centre.
