The marriage of Lord Ram and Mother Sita took place on the fifth day of Shukla Paksha of Margashirsha month. This date has special significance. Actually, once Mother Sita had lifted the bow of Lord Shiva, which no one else except Lord Parshuram knew how to lift. Then mother Sita’s father i.e. King Janak decided that Sita would be married to whichever king would be able to lift Shivaji’s bow.
In such a situation, on the day of Sita Swayamvar, a large number of kings from different states were present in the court of King Janak. Everyone tried to lift the bow one by one but no one could even move the bow. Then on the orders of Guru Vishwamitra, Lord Rama picked up Shiva’s bow in Sita Swayamvar and broke it into two pieces. The great warriors present in the court were shocked to see this. After this, Mother Sita got married to Lord Shri Ram.
Where did the marriage take place
