Hyundai i20 Era Base Variant In A Detailed Walkaround Video

Hyundai i20 is one of the popular premium hatchbacks on sale in India. We currently have the third generation of this hatchback, and it competes with the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Tata Altroz in the segment. Over the years, hatchbacks have become more expensive, and buyers have gradually started looking away from this segment. In a bid to attract more customers, Hyundai Motor India has now introduced a new base variant for the i20. Here, we have a detailed walkaround video showing what the Era variant offers.

The video has been shared by Auto Trend on their YouTube channel. In the video, we see the newly introduced base Era variant of the i20. The Era variant was available in the older generation model, but in the current version, the range previously started from the Magna variant.

Coming to the car itself, the Era variant looks basic from the front. It gets halogen headlamps, a gloss black front grille, and gloss black inserts on the bumper along with a faux skid plate. However, it misses out on fog lamps, LED DRLs, and several other premium features.

From the side profile, the car gets 14-inch steel rims without wheel covers. The Magna and higher variants get 15-inch and 16-inch alloy wheels. The turn indicators are placed on the fenders, and the car gets body-coloured door handles. There is a standard antenna on the roof, and at the rear, it features regular halogen tail lamps connected by a reflector strip. The lower part of the bumper also gets gloss black elements.

On the inside, the car does not offer remote central locking. Owners will have to use the key manually to lock and unlock the doors. The cabin has a dual-tone finish but misses out on features like a centre armrest, cooled glovebox, touchscreen infotainment system, and more.

The car offers tilt and telescopic steering adjustment, but power window switches are available only for the front passengers. The ORVMs are manually adjustable, and there is no infotainment system. However, the car does offer Type-C USB ports, manual AC, cabin lights, six airbags, traction control, ABS, and other basic safety features.

The vlogger mentions that the cabin feels spacious and offers ample legroom and headroom for occupants. Unlike higher variants, the Era does not offer a sunroof, connected car features, or other premium additions. It comes with a semi-digital instrument cluster that looks decent. Rear passengers get seat belts, but the headrests are fixed. There is no parcel tray, and the car comes with a 14-inch spare wheel in the boot.

The Hyundai i20 Era variant is powered by a 1.2-litre, four-cylinder, naturally aspirated petrol engine that generates 82 bhp and 114 Nm of peak torque. It is available only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

The price of the newly introduced Era variant is ₹5.99 lakh (ex-showroom). It could be a good option for buyers who want a premium hatchback experience without spending too much.
