Bureau Prayagraj. Expressing concern for the health of Imran Khan, former Prime Minister of Pakistan and captain of the world winning team, 14 former captains of the world have written a letter to the current PM Shahbaz Sharif. The names of Little Master Sunil Gavaskar and Kapil Dev are also included in this list. This petition was prepared under the leadership of Greg Chappell and has made a special appeal to Pakistan Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif.

Those who signed it include Sunil Gavaskar, Kapil Dev, Greg Chappell, Michael Atherton, Nasser Hussain, Belinda Clark, Ian Chappell, Allan Border, Michael Brearley, David Gower, Kim Hughes, Clive Lloyd, Steve Waugh and John Wright.

“We the undersigned are former captains of national cricket teams and express our deep concern over the treatment and prison conditions of Imran Khan, former captain of Pakistan and a great figure of world cricket.”

It is further written that the whole world praises Imran Khan’s contribution to the game of cricket. As a captain, he led Pakistan to a historic World Cup victory in 1992. It was a victory that was based on his skill, unwavering courage and leadership, which inspired generations across the borders.

According to this letter, apart from cricket, Imran Khan also served as the Prime Minister of Pakistan. Irrespective of political views, he has the honor of being democratically elected to the highest office of his country.

The letter talks about his declining vision. It further reads, “Recent news regarding his health, especially the worrying reports of his eyesight failing during his detention and the conditions of the prison for the last two and a half years, have deeply troubled us.

The appeal to Shahbaz Sharif read, “We respectfully urge the Government of Pakistan to ensure that Imran Khan receives prompt and appropriate medical care from specialists of his choice. He is provided with humane and dignified conditions in prison in accordance with international standards, including regular visits to the family and the right to a fair and transparent legal process without delay.”

At the end of this emotional appeal it was written, “Cricket has always been a bridge between countries. Our shared history on the field reminds us that the match ends with the uprooting of stumps, but respect always remains. Imran Khan has lived this spirit throughout his career. We appeal to the authorities to respect it while maintaining the principles of decency and justice. We are making this appeal not to interfere in any legal action, but in the spirit of sportsmanship and humanity.”
