Ramadan 2026: Moon sighted in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh

The South Asian countries including India, Pakistan and Bangladesh will observe their first fast of the month of Ramadan on Thrusday, February 18.

The moon for the ninth month of the Islamic calender was sighted confirming the the beginning of Ramadan of the year 1447 AH.

In Bangladesh, the confirmation was made by the Bangladesh National Moon Sighting Committee, according to The Daily Star.

In Pakistan, Ruet-e-Hilal committee’s conference was held on the eve of Wednesday to sight the moon.

Whereas, in India, the Ramadan moon was sighted in Allahabad city, a metropolis in Uttar Pradesh state.

Majority of American and European nations as well as the Middle Eastern nations observed their first fast on Wednesday, February 18.

The month of Ramadan is considered a pious month of blessings by the Muslim community around the globe who fasts from sunrise to sunset for the entire month and marks the completion of the month with Eid-ul-Fitr.
