CM Fadnavis welcomes French President Macron at Mumbai airport, will meet PM Modi today

Mumbai, 17 February. French President Emmanuel Macron reached India on Tuesday. Their objective is to further strengthen the strategic partnership between India and France. He was welcomed at the Mumbai airport by Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and Maharashtra and Gujarat Governors Acharya Devvrat. According to the Ministry of External Affairs, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with President Macron. The two leaders will also jointly launch the India-France Year of Innovation 2026.

The Ministry of External Affairs, welcoming President Macron through a post on the social media platform ‘X’, said that this visit will give further impetus to the India-France strategic partnership. Before leaving for India, President Macron had written on ‘X’ that he is coming on a three-day visit from Mumbai to New Delhi, so that the strategic partnership of the two countries can be further taken forward. He said that along with him, prominent people associated with business, industry, culture and digital sector are also coming to India, who play an important role in strengthening the relations between the two countries.

He further said, “Together, we will take our cooperation further. See you tomorrow, my dear friend Narendra Modi.” President Macron is coming to participate in the ‘AI Impact Summit’ on the invitation of the Government of India. During the visit, Macron will also attend the AI ​​Impact Summit in New Delhi on February 19. There will be a meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Macron in Mumbai on Tuesday. During this, both the leaders will review the progress made so far under the India-France strategic partnership and exchange views on regional and global issues. The President of France will be on an official visit to India from 17 to 19 February.

This is President Macron’s fourth visit to India and his first official program in Mumbai. On Tuesday, at around 3:15 pm, Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will hold bilateral talks at Lok Bhawan in Mumbai. According to the Prime Minister’s Office, the talks will include a complete review of the progress made under the India-France Strategic Partnership. Later, at around 5.15 pm, Prime Minister Modi and President Macron will jointly inaugurate the India-France Year of Innovation 2026. Industrialists, startup founders, researchers and people associated with innovation from both the countries will also be present on this occasion.
