bollywood actor Rajpal Yadav (Rajpal Yadav) has recently got relief from a big problem. He was lodged in Tihar jail in an old check bounce case, but now after getting bail, he has come out of jail. This incident happened on the evening of 17 February 2026, when he was released from Tihar Jail at around 4:50 pm. This case is quite old.
Around the year 2010-2012, Rajpal Yadav had taken a loan of about Rs 9 crore from a company (M/s Murali Projects Private Limited) to make his film. But due to the money not being returned on time, the check bounced. The company filed a case in the court. The court gave several chances, but the entire amount could not be paid. Ultimately the court sentenced him to 6 months and on 5 February 2026 he had to surrender in Tihar Jail. He stayed there for a total of 12-13 days (from February 5 to February 17).
How did you get bail?
Delhi High Court gave him relief on humanitarian grounds. Rajpal told the court that his niece’s wedding is on February 19, so he wants to spend time with the family. Also, he deposited Rs 1.5 crore (through demand draft) with the complainant company. The court has temporarily suspended his sentence, that is, the sentence has been put on hold for now. But some conditions were also imposed:
- You will have to submit your passport to the court
- Cannot leave the country without court permission
- Will have to appear in person in the next hearing on March 18, 2026 or can also join through video conferencing.
- If the remaining money is not paid by March 18, problems may increase again.
What did Rajpal say after coming out of jail?
Rajpal Yadav spoke to the media as soon as he came out of jail. He said very emotionally, ‘Heartfelt thanks to the entire country, children, elders, youth and people of Bollywood. Everyone supported him, that is why he was able to do 200-250 films. In 2027 he will complete 30 years in Bollywood. For the next 2-3 days he will be busy preparing for his niece’s wedding. After that he will hold a press conference, where he will answer all the questions of the media honestly. All legal matters are going on in the High Court, so do not want to comment much on this. They fully respect the court’s decisions. If anyone wants more information, they can talk to their lawyer.

Rajpal shared his experiences of jail. He told that there are about 20,000 prisoners in Tihar Jail. Got a chance to talk to many prisoners there. Many of them have been in jail for years just because of one mistake, some of them were young too. He said that if even about 10 percent of these prisoners get a second chance in life, it can make a lot of difference. They believe that by relaxing the stringent rules a little, the prisoners can be brought back into the mainstream on the basis of proper investigation and evaluation every year. This will increase positivity in the society. For this he has requested Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta. Rajpal said, ‘I want to request Rekha Gupta ji that among these thousands of prisoners of Tihar Jail, there are many who deserve another chance. If I have to speak on their behalf, I will definitely speak.

Rajpal Yadav is happy at the moment and is spending time with his family. He will soon hold a press meeting and present his full version. He is also excited to return to Bollywood and is seeking work from the industry. He says that the role is of his choice, the money is of your choice, just give him a chance.
