Ruckus in Bareilly: Admit cards stopped after collecting fees, girl students were deprived of examination; Principal in custody
Bareilly . On the day of board exams, where the dreams of success were in the eyes of the girl students, they were shattered at the school gate itself. Many intermediate and high school students of Sahodra Devi Inter College located in Gangapur Dabhaura village of Bhuta area could not take the examination on Wednesday. It is alleged that despite depositing the full fees the Principal did not issue the admit cards. As the matter escalated, the girl students along with their parents reached the police station, where the police took the accused principal into custody.
The students and their families say that the prescribed fees were deposited at the beginning of the session itself. It is alleged that Principal Kamlesh Kumar collected Rs 4500 from high school girl students and Rs 7200 from intermediate girl students, but did not give the admit cards despite repeated requests. There was board exam for Hindi subject on Wednesday. The students reached the examination centre, but due to lack of admit card, they were not allowed to enter the room. Due to this, one year of his life was put at stake.
When the students protested, they accused the Principal of indecency. He says that when he asked for the admit card, he was pushed out of the school and was also threatened with death. Class 12 students Priyanka and Nancy and high school students Chandni, Kusum, Mohini and Khushi reached Bhuta police station along with their parents and lodged a complaint.
The girl students also alleged that such complaints had already come to light in the college and the admit cards of other girl students had also been withheld. There is anger in the village and surrounding areas due to the incident.
Inspector in-charge Ravindra Kumar said that a report has been registered on the basis of the complaint. The Principal is being detained and interrogated. The matter is being investigated seriously.
The incident of withholding admit cards at an important occasion like board examination has raised questions on the functioning of private schools and the monitoring system of the education department. Now the eyes of the parents are fixed on taking action and providing opportunity to the girl students for the examination.
