New Delhi: Amid the tension between the US and Iran, Russia issued a statement that is sure to anger President Donald Trump. On Wednesday, Russia dismissed Washington’s claim that India had stopped purchasing Russian crude oil.
Russia categorically stated that it has no reason to believe that New Delhi has changed its stance on energy imports. This claim by Russia is sure to deal a blow to US ambitions.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova made a significant statement regarding India’s crude oil purchases. She stated at the weekly briefing that India’s purchase of Russian hydrocarbons is beneficial for both countries and helps maintain stability in the international energy market.
She added, “We have no reason to believe that India has changed its stance on purchasing Russian hydrocarbons. There is nothing new in the claims of US President Donald Trump and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who have usurped the right to dictate to independent countries.

Russia’s statement follows Washington’s claim that New Delhi had agreed to stop importing Russian crude oil. Last week, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that India had agreed to stop buying Russian oil. Recently, while announcing a trade deal with India, US President Donald Trump also claimed that India would no longer buy crude oil from Russia.
