Vietnam Airlines and Sun PhuQuoc Airways signed agreements Thursday to buy 90 Boeing aircraft for over US$30 billion.
The signing took place in the U.S. capital Washington, D.C., in the presence of Vietnam’s Party General Secretary To Lam and his delegation during his trip to the country for the inaugural meeting of the Gaza Board of Peace.
Vietnam Airlines will purchase 50 Boeing 737-8 planes for $8.1 billion between 2030 and 2032. The carrier plans to operate them on domestic routes and destinations in Asia.

Vietnam Airlines is the only airline in the country to operate the wide-body aircraft.

Vietnam’s largest private carrier, Vietjet Air, also secured strategic partnerships during the event, with deals worth more than $6.3 billion with major U.S. financial institutions and corporations.
