T20 World Cup: Italy blown away by Forde-Joseph’s storm, West Indies’ fourth consecutive win
West Indies have registered their fourth consecutive win in the T20 World Cup 2026. The Caribbean team continued its victory streak by easily defeating the challenge of Italy on Thursday (February 19). When invited to bat first at Eden Gardens, Kolkata, West Indies scored 165 runs at the loss of 6 wickets and then bowled out Italy for 123.
The West Indies team has proudly entered the Super-8, remaining unbeaten by winning by 42 runs. Matthew Forde, captain Shai Hope and Shamar Joseph were the stars in their win. After scoring unbeaten 16 runs in 8 balls, Ford took 3 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs. Whereas Shai Hope had played an inning of 75 runs in 46 balls with the help of 6 fours and 4 sixes. Shamar Joseph bowled brilliantly and took 4 wickets for 30 runs in 4 overs.

Caribbean team was stuck
After losing the toss, the West Indies team came to bat first and lost 2 wickets while reaching the score of 31 runs. Brandon King (4) and Shimron Hetmyer (1) returned to the pavilion cheaply. After this, Captain Hope along with Roston Chase took over the innings. There was a partnership of 64 runs between the two, in which Chase contributed only 24 runs in 25 balls.

After Chase was out, Hope and Powell kept walking in an attempt to increase the run pace. The score of the Caribbean team had become 115/5. Another upset was in the making but Sharfan Rutherford (24 not out in 15 balls) and Ford batted brilliantly in the last overs to take West Indies to a strong score, which proved to be a mountain for Italy.
Forde and Akil Hussain gave 3 shocks to Italy in the powerplay itself, from which it never recovered and collapsed after scoring 123 runs in 18 overs. From his side, Ben Mananti scored the maximum of 26 runs. Apart from this, JJ Smits and Anthony Mosca contributed 24 and 19 runs respectively. However this was insufficient. The Italian team, which came to play the T20 World Cup for the first time, returned home with 1 win in 4 matches.
